Charitable aims

East London Brass is an organization registered with the Charity Commission for England and Wales. (registered charity number 1091235)

Our objectives are:
To advance the interest and education of the public in the appreciation of brass band music

In particular to advance the education and training of children, young people and adults in the playing of brass band instruments.

A Brass Band for London: The band operates in the inner London Borough of Hackney, from a local school, and fulfils its objectives primarily by providing a brass band for the London community. The band is for anyone with an interest in brass bands, and/or who plays a brass or percussive instrument. There is broad representation of ability, age and gender.

Education: A major focus of the band is educating children and young people; we have forged close links with the school, and perform there with both the main and the training bands. Members of the band provide tuition to children who wouldn't otherwise have the opportunity to learn, and we offer financial support to these children so that they can take graded examinations.

Our successful beginners' band gives children the chance to play together as part of a group so that they can develop team-working and social skills. We encourage children to progress to the main band as soon as they reach a reasonable standard.

Child protection: We have an agreed and drawn up Child Protection Policy. All band members involved with children are Police checked.
